I use SilverFast Ai Studio (6.5.5r1) and have just started shooting and scanning 4x5 B&W film on my Epson 4990.
My problem is that I cannot seem to get SilverFast to allow me to tell it that I want to scan a negative instead of a positive transparency.
As far as trying to get SilverFast to allow me to set the scan as a negative, it won't let me. When I select "Negative" in the General Tab, up pops the NegaFix window with some film choices that don't help at all. I am currently shooting Fuji Acros which is not on the list (neither are any other B&W films), so whether I select "Fuji" or "<other>" in the film manufacturer drop down and then select <other> in the film type dropdown and close the window, the Pos/Neg selection reverts to Positive. I cannot find any way to get the selection to stiick as Negative.
If anyone has a solution to this issue I would be most appreciative.
Thanks,
Jim

Dear all,
as we do not have the conversion curve for that film, we advise to use the "linear" settings under other.
The other way would be to try out different films and choose the one that comes "closest" and then edit the negative curves.
While this is a bit difficult in one of our next updates we will ease up the self-creating of negafix profiles by making the curves easier to adjust.
best regards,
