Moving marquees Epson 1640XL

I am using a Epson 1640XL on the Mac 9.1. I have the latest version of Silverfast (6). My marquee doesn't always stay in the same place. Some times it moves it's position from prescan to scan or if I have to scan the image for some reason twice the marquee will have moved to the left to right. It only happens with transparent images not reflective. It doesn't happen all the time and it did it with version 5. Epson doesn't seem to know what the problem is.
