I am rather inexperienced with SilverFast. I have an Epson 836XL scanner and am successfully using 5.5Ai with WindowsXP. My question concerns saving scans as files, without having to relaunch SilverFast after each scan. I've tried Normal, NormalFile, and BatchFile. Using NORMAL and with "Reopen SilverFast after scan" check I do in fact re-open SF after the scan. The other two options do NOT. What I REALLY want, is for SilverFast to STAY open, rather than re-launch. All of my scanning is reflective on a flat-bed. I can tell by reading messages on this forum that just about EVERYBODY knows more about this than I do. I'd appreciate any help.

Unfortunately the way the architecture of Photoshop plugins work, SF has to quit after it sends the data to Photoshop.

You can use the twain version of SilverFast if you are doing basic, non color-critical scanning. This version works differently, and allows Photoshop to keep it open as you scan and afterwards.

The Plugin version, however, is preferred because it has higher support for color management, raw data scans, and some other stuff.
