Is batch processing what I am missing in SE

Postby db » Sun Oct 02, 2005 8:40 pm

I received SilverFast SE with my Epson 4990. The sofwtare looks ok but a major feature missing when scanning multiple negative strips is the definition of multiple marques for scanning. I.e. I want to scan 6 120 film areas in one pass and not serially one after another.

Is this something that's available in Ai? (Batch processing). What is the chepaest way to get this functionality (I have SE ver 6.2. For me the software is pretty much useless without this feature. What are other good packages you can recommend for the Epson 4990, I may as well buy something that in the basic version is not being so anal, it's not like I need the extra color space management or some of the advanced bells and whistles, I have a problem with a company that is trying to turn me into a manual idiot.

Best regards.

Hello db,

Yes, the AI version has batch scanning. The way it works is that set batch scanning; do your preview scan; and then draw bounding boxes around the individual images you want scanned. You are able to make independent adjustments to each of the pictures prior to doing the final scan, and when you have them all set the way you like you click on the scan button.

Hope this helps!
