Installation of SilverfastSE6

Postby sheila.weston » Mon Apr 21, 2003 10:33 pm

I have just installed Silverfast SE 6 and chose the Photoshop plugin as I have Photoshop Elements on my Windows XP pc. Is there any reason why I should not also load the Twain plugin? I have used Twain with my old scanner.

Also, I notice that if I try to open Silverfast by going to START>PROGRAMS>LASERSOFT>SILVERFAST I am asked to choose a plugin folder, but the box below is greyed out, as is the import option. What is this all about?

My scanner is an Epson 3200 scanner.

Dear Sheila.

You should always use the PhotoShop plugin if possible, since the combination of PhotoShop and SilverFast gives the most reliable color presentation (prescan in SilverFast and final scan in PhotoShop show the same color). We are using callback functions into Photoshop, when displaying the prescan. For Twain applications this is not possible.

What you open in the start menu is possibly our standalone application SF_App. You need to select the path to the installed SilverFast plugin. You will then see the name of the SilverFast plugin in the selection box for plugins. SF_App works with PhotoShop plugins not with TWAIN.

Eric.
