In the Market for New Flatbed

Postby mgilvey » Thu Mar 11, 2010 10:31 pm

Greetings,

I have a UMAX Astra 2200 that appears to be getting ready to kick the bucket. I already own a Nikon Super Coolscan 5000 for scanning 35mm trans, I don't scan any medium or large format nor do I scan large batches of images. I do expect excellent quality and have a background in prepress and using high end scanners like Scitex. I already use Silverfast AI. I just need to get a high quality flat bed scanner. Willing to put out $1000 or so if necessary but I see that prices have really dropped since I last looked.

Dear mgilvey,

You might want to give it a look at the Epson Perfection V750 Pro (Epson's top line A4 format) or the Expression 10000XL if you have to go for a bigger format (A3). But the latter is out of your price range, perhaps the first option is the most indicated for you, it also comes bundled with SilverFast.

cheers
