Hello everybody,
I'm a Silverfast AI user, and I have some images from the same roll of film but that are one two different strips, which I need to get the exact same scan of. One is of the ground, and the other the sky, so when I scan them separately, I get completely different looking scans. I am going to stitch them together, so I need them to have the same exposure (they do have the same exposure when taken). I don't want a to have to play with the scans in photoshop. I need some sort of exposure lock, or a way to tell the program to make the same auto exposure of two different frames. I have tried to look on the forum without help, as well as the full manual, but I can't find any help. Other people have seemed to ask for the same thing, but I haven't found an answer that satisfies. I use a Epson V700 currently. Anybody got a good idea?
Thanks in advance,
Andreas

Re: Getting the same scan exposure on two different frames
Hi Arne,
Thanks for your quick reply, unfortunately, I cannot get your solution to work. I'll describe what I do in precise detail:
I make my prescan. The first frame selector fills the entire prescan screen, so I make it smaller, so it fits the first image I'd like to scan. When I have the fourth side of the frame selector is in place, the image automatically balances. Then I select the right kind of film in the negafix window (fuji nph), and the picture balances further. Then I unselect the auto and ccr buttons in negafix. Then I go to draw my next frame selector on the second frame. As soon as I draw it, the image balances as silverfast sees fit, which is to say, different than the first image I selected. It doesn't matter at that point if I unselect the auto and ccr buttons for the second frame, reset the histogram, or anything like that. The problem lies in the fact that as soon as I select the frame, it balances the image.
So what am I doing wrong? I really hope that this can be accomplished in your otherwise great program!
Thanks for you time,
Andreas

Re: Getting the same scan exposure on two different frames
Dear Andreas,
Everytime you draw a new frame, the NegaFix must elliminate the orange mask, for that it automatically regards the information included within the scan frame. Since every frame is visually different it will also do a different calculation.
In your case you have to trace the first frame and do the necessary corrections (as you described in your last message) then press and hold the "Alt" key while clicking at the top left corner of the second frame to duplicate the frame with exactly the same settings. In case of more frames then simply repeat the process.
Cheers

Thank you so much for this information! It was exactly what I was going to ask.
