Film Holders

I've just bought an Epson V700 scanner.
On one side of all the film holders there are between 4 and 9 small removable rectangular plugs, 8mm x 17mm, with an arrow on each one. I can find no reference to these in the Epson manual. There are also 6 spare ones provided in a small plastic bag. Can anyone tell what they are for?

Dear John,

These feet allow you to vary the hight of the holder.
You will notice two signs next to them.
One is a 0 and one a +.
If you pull them out and turn them so the arrow points towards the Plus (+), you will notice they stick out slightly more.

In most cases you should simply leave them pointing towards the zero (0).
