Hello All,
I have been running some version of Ai (currently using version 6.6) on my Epson Expression 1680 scanner for many years. Yesterday, I downloaded a trial of Ai Studio 8 to see if I wanted to upgrade, but I have an issue:
In my current Ai 6.6 there is a button to set the focus point at 0.0 (if scanning off the glass) or 2.5 (if scanning a neg/trans using a film holder.) Years ago I bought a custom film holder that allows height adjustment so that through testing one can have the film plane sitting at the sharpest possible focus point when using the transparency adapter. This "focus" button is missing in Ai 8 and I'm finding that my 6.6 scans are sharper than my version 8 scans! I know that version 8 will have a focus button available if your scanner has a motorized focus mechanism, but mine has only the two very specific settings.
Can anybody help? This focus issue is a deal-breaker for me.
Best regards,
AlanH

Re: Evaluating Ai Studio 8 for possible upgrade
Dear customer,
currently the focus option is not included in SilverFast 8.
We have already forwarded this issue to our developers, so they can correct that.
Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.
