Has anyone succeeded in running an Epson ES-1000C under Win XP? I know Epson does not offer an XP driver and has no plans to do so, but believe I read here that their Win2000 driver will work. Can anyone confirm?

I assume I need to address three components:

* Select and install a new PCI SCSI card (my old computer had an AT-slot SCSI card which won't fit in my new computer).

* Obtain and install an ES-1000C driver that will work under XP.

* Obtain SilverFast SE or similar software to actually manage scanning under XP.

Am I correct in this regard?

Advice please. I don't want to abandon my faithful old scanner!

Thanks, - Stan

I try the most scanners from epson on XP !
Every time I use the Win2000 drivers from Epson it still working.

The only problem is the right SCSI card.
If XP don?t find the card......Its bad !

Arne, Epson says that they do not offer a Windows 2000 driver for my ES-1000C scanner, and a check of their tech support web site confirms this. They say that without a Windows 2000 driver, my scanner will not work under Windows XP, even if I find a suitable Adaptec PCI SCSI card.

Do YOU know of a Windows 2000 driver for the ES-1000C, either from Epson, SilverFast, or some other source?

Thanks again, - Stan

Like Arne says, SilverFast will work with the scanner unless you have an oddball scsi card that isn't supported. If the scsi card is found and the drivers work, SF will work with your scanner. You can try the demo from our site.

Even though Epson doesn't offer drivers for this model, you can load drivers for a different scanner that IS XP/2K supported just to keep Windows from saying 'new hardware found' constantly. The drivers are totally unused by SilverFast, which communicates with the scanner directly.

I am running a Epson ES1000C with Windows XP. Like everyone, I found out from Epson that they were not going to support the ES1000C. After several calls to Epson, I finally talked with a technician that pointed me to LaserSoft. I had nearly decided to purchase an XP compatible scanner. After installing the Demo of SilverFast, I found that it worked perfectly as a Twain plug in. I use Corel 9 and find that my scanning capabilities are far superior now to what I was using provided by Epson. Once I saw it worked, I immediately ordered version 5.5 and feel that my scanner will continue to be of service. Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions.
