I am scanning with an Epson 4990 running Silverfast SE 6.4.3r1. My computer is an HP desktop with a dual-core processor, 4 gigs of memory, and a 500-gig hard drive.
Scanning a 6x7cm transparency works fine without Digital Ice, but when I attempt to scan with Digital Ice, I get an error message that says "An error occurred at the start of the scanning process. Scanner not ready to scan."
It has no problem scanning prints.
This occurred a few months ago and I was able to correct the problem, but now don't remember what I did! I have deleted the Preferences file, but don't know what else to do short of uninstalling and reinstalling the program.

Digital ICE is a function of the scanners system driver.
Have you tried updating the driver?
