Epson V550 and OSX 10.11

I am using the demo version of version 8 and Epson Perfection V550 Photo. I have set it to 32bit mode, but it still does not see the scanner. I get an error message at the top but it shows the scanner. I have tried every version of the scanner driver I can find with the sane result. I thought about changing the OS to 10.10 but when I purchased the system It came with version 10.11 so I don't see that as a option. Is there a way to run the program with this scanner under 10.11, maybe some kind of work around? I have a large number of pictures to scan and do not want to have to scan each individually. That will take months!

Dear customer,

The V550 unfortunately is not supported on OS X 10.11 at the moment.
Please check the scanner's compatibility page as this should change in the near future.
Our developers are trying to find a solution for this.

Any update on compatibility for OSX 11 and the Epson V550? Almost bot the software but when the demo wouldn't start up found this old forum post.

Dear user,

Unfortunately the V550 driver has not been updated yet.
Some customers however reported that installing the V600 driver allows the V550 to actually function correctly.
