EPSON Perfection 2450 freezes after upgrade

Everything was working fine with my 2450 until I upgraded to AI6,version 6.0.2r10. I can get a pre scan, but when I press the scan button, the scanner makes noises like it is going to scan. Yet, all I get is a spinning beachball until I turn off the scanner (force quit fails). I have tried everything I can think of from re-installing AI6 to a clean install of OS X. I can scan successfully using Epson TWAIN 5, but not AI6. Any ideas?

We found the problem and have informed our WEB stuff to upload updates to WEB. These updates should be available soon.

This sounds exactly like my problem (see separate post 10 April). The Epson software still works here too. When do you think there will be an update?

Is it a USB-related problem? I'm plannig to get a FireWire lead anyway.
