Hi
I wonder if any body could give me some advise regarding these 2 scanners with Silverfast. I can buy them both for the same price if I buy the 1680 pro second hand.
Which of the two will give the better scan for Positive/Neg film? I need to do contact sheets for 35mm and also would like to scan medium format. Also I have a lot of prints that need scanning.
Have herd that dpi is not every thing, also the 1680?s focusing system with better optics will give a better scan?
Which one to go with and any comparison would really be appreciated.

The 1680 is a professional scanner, with a fine focus system. This is perfect for Slides, cause they are not in the same layer like negatives or reflectives, cause the frame. The optic is very good.
The 3200 is a very good midrange scanner, with also good opticals, but without focus and a limited transperancy unit (only a part of the whole glas could be used). The resolution is higher, but I don't know, if the optic is fine enough, to get the use of the higher resolutions.
My private opinion.
At normal you get what you pay for (new price). So the 1680 gives a slightly better quality, and a fine focus system. If you like to scan big areas at once and use sometimes slides, the 1680 is the better choise.
kind regards
