Epson 836XL/SCSI & MacOSX?

I have an Epson 836XL wide format scanner connected to my G4 via SCSI. Epson never mentions the 836XL on it's site regarding present or future OSX support, although the newer 1640XL is often mention. Are their any plans for a native MacOSX Silverfast scan utility that supports the 836XL? I'm beginning to worry about my $3000 scanner becoming useless under OSX. Thanks for any info. --Robb

Thats excellent news! I've been slowly organizing all the drivers and apps I'll need to move to OSX, one day (still waiting on Photoshop & Dreamweaver). Support for my 836XL has been of great concern to me. I'm so glad to hear I won't have to always keep Classic MacOS around indefinitely, just to run my scanner.
Thanks for the reply!

Now that Photoshop 7 for Mac OS X has been "announced" can we expect the Silverfast AI 5.5 Epson 836XL software to be working with it upon PS 7's release?
I own SF AI 3.8.0 which came with my 836XL and have not wanted to upgrade it until I was sure it would work with Photoshop for X.
From what I've read am I to assume that Silverfast will act as the Epson scanner driver? I won't have to wait on Epson to create a scsi OS X driver for this scanner?
This would be awesome. I have OS X running, VST fw drives, Lexmark Optra W810, Splash G620 RIP/Xerox Docucolor 12, and Fiery LX-W RIP/Encad NovaJet Pro 600e.
The Epson 836XL is they very last piece to my puzzle in going full-time OS X.

FWIW, I found an native OSX 3rd party driver/app that supports many scanners, including the 836XL. I was so pleased about this, that over the past few days, I backed up, flattened and installed OS 10.1.3. The scanner works beautifully.
I know SilverFast is an industrial strength scanner utility, and I plan to keep monitoring this site so I'll know when I can use it with my 836XL in OSX. But until then, I'm using a $40 product called v**s**n by Hamrick Software. Works like a charm. To learn more, go to...

any help?
Just thought I would revive this topic since it's the only one I see that particularly pertains to my situation.
I have the Epson 836XL SCSI interface and would like to use it on Mac OSX 10.2.2 with Photoshop 7
What version of SilverFast is compatible (if any)?
Thanks in advance.
