Epson 4870 positioning the slide into the film-holder

I realised that if I put the slide into the film holder with the emultion down( contrary of the "F" printed on the film-holder) I obtain a better result as line drawing( than in Photoshop, I simply flip horisontal the image). And if I place it correctly the line edges in the images are little bit diffused...
Does anyone else experienced that?

this sounds like a focus thingie and might depend on the thickness of your slides' frames.
