Epson 3200 - Correct Gamma setting SF Ai 6

Postby mrgibbs » Mon Apr 21, 2003 10:47 pm

I have seen several posts stating that the correct gamma setting is 1.8 for reflective and 2.0 for transparency. In the tutorials by Ian, he states it's best adjusting gamma before IT8 calibration. Based on the actual hardware capability of the scanner, what is the correct setting to use before applying my IT8 calibration that I purchased from Lasersoft? I want to reduce the adjustments by IT8 software that Ian speaks to in his tutorial. I tried his examples and it made no difference without really upping the gamma, so what gives?

Thanks in advance!

The difference in changing the gamme to the profile is very small. Mostly it is not visible with the eyes. But on the math side, there is a difference, and most want the best quality, so they choose the correct settings.
Not all, what is not seen, is also not there.
