Epson 1640XL Photoshop 7.0 User Problem

Hi,

When using Photoshop 7.0, I can only use SilverFast 6 AI on Windows XP when I'm logged as an administrator. Otherwise, when logged in as a user or power user, I get an error saying it cannot find my scanner. Any idea on why this is happening? I'd prefer not to have to give all accounts administrator priviliges just to use the scanner. Thanks in advance.

looks to me like a security-hardware-problem with XP, i.e. XP does allow access to certain hardware only for users with administrative rights.

However, this problem shouldn't normally bother you with SilverFast.
Install and serialize the latest update version of SF and be happy to use it with any user account on your XP system.

However, you might reconsider you user account permissions, too.
