Ian ~ Thanks, that's what I intend to do, but it's a pain.
Meantime, I'm getting deeper into v**s**n....

Dear Jrenten and Tomacz,

please be a little bit patient here and try to see that we are always trying to fix what seems to be a bug very quickly in a very short time frame. Try that with other companies as ADOBE or AGFA. See our dedication and try to be constructive - we are on your side to get you the best product possible.

This is the intention of the forum to post solution to problems and better understanding for the power of the functions that we have been working so hard for. So try to cooperate with us with some patience and support and everyone will definitely profit from that.

At this point I would like to point to Ian Lyons and his Digital Darkroom web site with his wonderful tutorials that everybody should see, as a sophisticated efficient help and an extraordinary positive example to make this industry better!

I have an Artixscan 4000T and use LaserSoft 5.5 on a Mac. The IT calibration slide that was supplied was not square in the mount but still successfully calibrated. I was not happy with the scans so switched off calibration and the quality of the scans was far better (a slight magenta cast, previously a stong cast which was in some cases impossible to remove). I remounted the IT slide in a Gepe mount so it was square and recalibrated but again scans without calibration were better than with calibration.

Is the problem that I am scanning Fuji film but calibrated with a Kodak slide?

Also if I scan a picture which is predominantly 1 colour eg close up of a yellow flower I get strange colours loke poseterisation without calibration but very deep orange/yellow colours with calibration.

First of all, I am amazed that no one has replied to your inquiry up til' now. I, too, have not had much success with calibration. I used the delete button in the calibration dialog window to reset the profile to linear. Now I get scans that are much closer in appearance to the original slide. I'm using SF Ai 5.5 (Nikon LS-2000) for Mac.

I don't think you are using Fuji film with a Kodak profile. The Kodak target is only produced by Kodak, using Kodak film, and the IT8 calibration module won't let you use an inappropriate calibration file.

The age of the target slide could throw off the calibration process. I'm going to call Kodak to order a new Q60 target slide direct. I'll ask Kodak if they can sell me a slide that closely matches the calibration profile, which is based on a batch average. If they can assure me that a fresh slide is guarenteed to be well within the IT8 tolerances, I'll give a new slide a try. If I still have problems, I'll have to assume that there is a problem with Silverfast's IT8 calibration software module.
