Calibration questions with Silverfast Ai 6

Postby peggyyy » Thu Oct 31, 2002 6:11 am

I'm excited about the upgraded version of SilverFast Ai, but have some calibration questions.

I finally, just a few weeks ago, began getting a print out that matched what I saw on my monitor. Using Monaco EZcolor I calibrated my monitor (Viewsonic), printer (Epson Stylus Photo 890), and scanner (Epson Perfection 2450 Photo).

In order to use the profiles, the instructions are to change only the resolution in the scanner and printer, so I've been doing all editing in Photoshop 7.

Can anyone advise me as to whether I can use the "dust and scratches" feature while scanning, and not mess up my workflow? I can't afford Silverfast's calibration program and it's profile result probably wouldn't integrate with Monaco's (software only) profiles of my monitor and printer.

I'm far from experienced with Color Management. Anyone know if there is a way I can get my image to print out correctly without incorporating the scanner profile in the workflow?

Thanks much for any advice -- I am itching to upgrade soon but I don't want to go through more agonizing months of trial and error to enjoy the printout results!

SilverFast Calibration Questions

Dear Peggy,

SilverFast's integration with ICC/ICM colour management is straight forward and all based on colour management standards. It can very well integrate with other IT8-based calibration systems such as Monaco color.

Here are some tutorials which should help you to get started with colour management and IT8-calibration:
