I have a brand new Epson V750 and have updated Silverfast SE Plus to 8.0.1r52.
My first test scan of a photo works fine. Trying to scan negative (yes I have changed to transparency), results in a black screen with some white stripes. The videos show a different interface and I don't see anything obvious in them I am doing wrong. Furthermore a search or both the forum and Google are not supplying anything helpful.

Re: Black scan with white Stripes
Dear customer,
Did you remember to remove the protective cover from the scanner lid's transparency unit?
Also make sure that the calibration area is not obstructed.
This is located in the first 2-3 cm of the glass plane viewed from the hinges.
No material is allowed there, as even a piece of clear tape can disturb the calibration.
Make sure you use a film holder or the scan area guide to make sure the calibration area is left clear.
Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.
