48 bit HDR Color?

Postby silsurf » Sat Aug 06, 2005 6:23 am

I was wondering if there is anything I need to know about the 48 HDR option?

I did one 2-1/4 transparency scan and it came out great. Then, everything I have tried after that is almost black. Too dark to use.

Any input appreciated.

Dear Henry

the HDR output option is reserved for further use of such images in SilverFast HDR. It will scan your images unmodified at a gamma of 1.0.
That's why they "come out very dark" if directly imported into Photoshop.

At least you want to apply your standard gamma to HDR scans (> Options > Gamma > for HDR output: activate checkbox).
But I suggest you rather want not to use the HDR mode for direct importing to Photoshop, because you then cannot make use of any tools SilverFast does provide to optimise your scans. Just take another scan mode and you'll be fine :)
