2450, and problems with changing ppi settings

Postby Erik Heyninck » Tue Jun 07, 2005 8:57 pm

I have an Epson 2450 Photo scanner, SilverFast 6 and Photoshop 7 on WinXPPro..

Draft preview is unchecked.

When I scan at 100% and 300ppi, the image in PS7 is identical to what I see in the preview of Silverfast.
When I change ONLY (I don't touch anything else) the 300ppi to 72ppi, the scan is much darker and with a strong blue cast.

Before posting here, I asked Gary Bouton, author of Inside Photoshop and a good friend of mine. It looks like it boils down to SilverfastAi.

Is this a known issue, and will installing the newest version solve this?
Or does anyone have another idea?

thanks for reading and your advise!

Hello Erik,

I read your scenario, and I am thinking that you need to make changes to your settings if you change the image resolution from 300dpi to 72dpi because you are changing the amount of image information available, which can make a huge difference.

Ask Gary Bouton if my line of thinking makes any sense.
