2 Epson 1640XL, 2 SF v5.5.2r22, different results

I posted the earlier question about Epson TWAIN. I have now tried scanning slides on our other 1640, & found the results much better. I've compared every setting in Options, & they seem to be exactly the same. Still, the scans on the other 1640 come out much better than on mine. I can e-mail an example if anyone has any ideas. I'm hoping it's not my lamp going out; I'm going to contact Espon to see if this is likely.

judging your description it does seem not unlikely the lamp of the scanner may indeed be a problem.
For comparing the settings of the two scanners, the "Expert Dialog" may be of help, as you can output all settings there to a text file for reference and comparison.
