VLT demo - order of images

Postby Emil » Sun Feb 19, 2006 9:29 pm

Hello, I'm trying out the demo version of VLT, which seems to exactly meet my needs!
Only one problem:
I drag the images in the album area, move them around, and try to rename them in the new order.
What happens - and it took me some time to find out - is, that not the new order as seen is used but the order in which the files have been touched!
that's saying: the image I moved first gets the first index, and the image I moved last the last, no matter, on which position on the light table it is.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanx
Emil

Dear Emil

nothing, you're doing everything fine. That's the way it is intended to work. To get an image up-front, it need to be click (again), which sets its index to last position, to make it come first.

thank you for your really fast reply!
what is the reason for this "order by last click" thing?
I should rather like to just move the images around in the album, and once I'm satisfied with the order, rename them with new indices, to save the order in a windows folder as well.
ciao

Dear Emil

you can only sensibly use such an index in a LIFO (last in, first out) way, to make a user able to quickly assign an image top place.

Your approach
>>
just move the images around in the album, and once I'm satisfied with the order, rename them with new indices, to save the order in a windows folder as well
<<
also does make sense to me. I will ask the product manager to take it into account.

Best regards
