Apparently, any time that the system goes to sleep when the Silverfast application is active (the standalone version) and the computer screensaver is activated, some sort of corruption occurs.

This corruption takes the form of Silverfast being unable to scan properly. All susequent scans, whether they are batch or single frame type, appear as "black" in the preview pane (or green, or some other color). That is, the scan process returns only a black field in the preview pane and no image data whatsoever.
All attempts to scan or reset parameters at this point are ineffective. The only way to correct the problem is to shut down Silverfast and restart the application.
Is there any reason why Silverfast should behave in this manner?
