I'm just looking for the latest developments on SilverFast Ai for the Canon FS4000US. I saw somewhere in the forums that early this year, LaserSoft was just waiting for the Canon development kit, and that the support for this scanner would be available sometime in the spring of 2002. Is there still an expectation that SilverFast Ai will be available for this scanner? If so, what timeframe? If not, then I guess SilverFast HDR is the only other solution.
I did talk with Canon today, and they know of nothing in the works for supporting/working with LaserSoft and SilverFast Ai. That really is unfortunate, because their software leaves much to be desired.
Thanks for the update.

Mysterious FS4000US Link
Eric Flyvbjerg wrote:No sorry, there is no version for the FS4000U. Nor is there any plan for it![]()
Eric.
Hmmm... my source indicated that the President of LSI himself said that support for the FS4000US was the next big project for one of LSI's programmers.
Anyone notice a few days ago that there was a link to the FS4000US in the Canon "supported scanners" list (listed as "CanoScan 4000US")? I only saw the link there for a day, and I was unable to download any software for the FS4000US by following the link, but it sure makes you wonder...

C'mon, LSI, how 'bout a beta test program for Canon FS4000US users?

Dear ElGreco
The president said:

Yes, there was a change, but sorry there is no CanoScan4000 project yet

with the files it generates in my Windows 2000 that nobody has been able to solve yet. So unfortunately Silverfast processing of raw files is not for me. Unless somebody tells me how to get raw files from Canon Filmget or some other program and get them into Silverfast (I believe it is called HRD). I use Photoshop 6 and I am getting ready to upgrade to 7. Any information will be appreciated.

I'm going to maintain hope for an FS4000 SilverFast...
I will quote directly an email reply I received from an individual that works at LaserSoft's Florida office:
"I was told by the Owner yesterday that it [SilverFast for the FS4000] is the next big project for one of our programmers."
So, unless this LaserSoft employee is a) lying or b) misunderstanding what "the Owner" said, then I'm maintaining hope that SilverFast is going to come out for the FS4000. (Despite what Mr. Flyvbjerg says

Dear all.
The employee in Florida was not lying or misunderstanding, neither did I. At the end of last year, there was not that much communication with Canon and there was no project for this scanner. Now the time has changed and now there is a project for the FS4000. It?s not scheduled yet, when it should be finished, but it will come.
