Support for CANOSCAN 9900 F

Postby benny » Mon Jul 21, 2003 12:02 pm

Is there any chance that you?ll support the CanoScan 9900 F Scanner in your future versions? The Scanner seems to be cool, not so the color functions and scan options under MAC OS.

Canon 9900

Postby robertsonarch » Mon Aug 04, 2003 3:05 am

I take your response to mean that if a person purchases Silverfast, standalone, and attempts to use as scanning software with the Canon 9900, it will not work.

Please confirm this. I am interested in the Canon over the Epson simply on the basis of FARE.

Thanks for your response,

Kurt

The ScanGear that is bundled with the 9900F is a very bad software for scanning. I have been suffering for 2 months now and looking for an alternative. Hope Silverfast can support it soon...

Looking forward to Silverfast for the 9900 - I've bought one

I too am looking forward to using Sioverfast with the 9900. I bought one on the strength of the optics. It doesn't disapoint optically, but the software is pants...

Does Silverfast simply not work with it at all at present or is it that you simply cannot gurantee it?

I'd be interested to hear as I'm spending far too long looking at Photoshop right now...

Is there a more positive or more informative answer as to when or IF Silverfast will become available for the Canon 9900 F ? Thank-You, in advance.

Dear Canon users

unfortunately it is very unlikely that there ever will be a version for the Canon 9900F available.
Please note that this is _not_ because not enough people wanted it.
It is also _not_ because SilverFast didn't want it.

If you want to have a SilverFast solution, please feel free to ask Canon about it.

Hi,
is this "dicision" only made for 9900F or for all (remaining) canon-models ? Yesterday I asked about 8000F-support in the thread below !
When it is Canon?s fault then I WILL write a mail to them......I hope some other users will follow :-)

Regards
Kivas

Dear kivas

I wouldn't want to blame anyone as this usually does not further any purpose.
However, if Canon finds that Canon users are asking about if the 9900F and SilverFast they might be more enthusiatic in supporting our efforts when we are trying to implement support for a given scanner.

My other post refers only to the 9900F.
At present I can't tell you about a 8000F (not knowing the model yet, either). But if, I would post in the other thread if it concerns specifically that scanner.

It was not my intention to blame someone....
When I write a mail to Canon i will stick to facts. I hope Canon reacts to such customer wishes

The 8000F is the smaller brother of the 9900F

Dear kivas

I am sure you weren't. I just wanted to make myself clear that I wasn't, too.

Actually, the case with the Canon 8000F is much the same as with the 9900F. Mind you, we do have great support from Canon Germany and Canon Europe.
It just that Canon Japan takes great (and justified) pride in its own software solution for their scanners.

Greetings from Kiel to Dortmund :D

Dear User,

there is hope now! We have established a good contact with Canon Europe and it seems we would get support from them so we can adapt this scanner to SilverFast Ai in the future! Keep in touch!

Have you made any progress with 9900f scanner?

Dear Canon users

development for the 9900F and 8000F is well on its way.
Please bear with us a little longer.

Thanks in advance, Sonny

heya!

it's good to hear, that silver-fast will be available for 9900f too! i love this scanner but i'd like to use it with your software!
and i really don't wanna spend more money on different scanners just to use the software - i'm still an austrian mulit media art student of 22 years age :)

let us know WHEN the software will be finished

best regards
