Hi
I have already for a long time Silverfast SE version 6.6.2.r5 installed on my computer. I now downloaded the new Silverfast 8 SE Plus version. Before I buy I have a question related to the color management in both versions which is not clearly explained in the manuals available. I use them with my Canoscan 8800f scanner.
In Silverfast SE version 6.6. I can select in the General Menu the "Transparency" for my diapositives which I want to scan. In the "Options/CMS" menu I can select among several profiles, for instance "SFProfT (CanoScan 8800f).icc" or also "SFProfK (CanoScan 8800f).icc" as well as the internal profile.
First question: it is nowhere in the manual explained what these profiles really mean, can I assume that the T stands for Transparency and the K for Kodachrome? But then again the Kodachrome cannot be selected in the General Menu of the SE version. So what is really the difference between these different profiles and how do the link with the Transparency selection in the General Menu?
The second question is related to the new Silverfast 8 SE Plus version: Now, when working with the new version 8 SE Plus then you can select already in the general setup the Kodachrome. But then in "Edit/Preferences/CMS" menu you have all the different icc profiles available. How these profiles do interlink with the Kodachrome and/or Transparency selection in the main menu of the Silverfast 8 screen? What do you select in the CMS menu to have the profiles right if you choose in the main menu Transparency and Kodachrome.
I would appreciate to get some light to the above before I purchase/upgrade to the new version 8.
Thanks in advance.
Hanspeter

Re: Silverfast SE 6.6. versus Silverfast 8
Dear customer,
Normally the ICC profiles for the internal colorspace do not have to be touched.
The pull down menu is only needed if you created custom profiles with an external calibration tool.
Otherwise you just leave the settings as they are.
The settings are correctly preset.
But you are right the SFprofT is the standard transparency profile.
And the SFprofK is the standard Kodachrome profile.
kind regards,
Arne Ketelhon.
