Hello, I'm a long time happy Silverfast user, starting with Minolta film scanner and now with Canon 9950F flatbed.
Until yesterday everything worked very well, the quality of scans was excellent. As you can see in the following scan:
Yesterday I received a newsletter from Silverfast telling me how cool the new version (6.6.0r4) is and how well it works with my Canon scanner. So I updated it and tried iSRD first. It scanned with 2 passes ant then just hanged in there forever.. Activity monitor showed that Silverfast process was not responding.. After that all of my scans became like this:
The interesting part is that on the small thumbnails everything looks ok:
And just now i noticed that the only way to get a normal scan is to use ME function, ok, but I dont always have the time or nessecity to scan with ME.. what should I do? please help me get my good scans back.. :(

Dear Chiudikas,
Thanks for your detailed description and the pictures, aparently there was a little bug on the latest version which was already corrected, please download the latest update from our website again.
Before starting the newest update, please make sure you delete the preferences folder.
SilverFast should be now working properly.

My scans are back the way they were.. in fact, now that iSRD and everything else works, even better!

I have just downloaded the SilverFast Ai update from version 6.6.2r3 to version 6.6.2r4 on my Mac Pro. The instructions say to uninstall the previous version before installing the new one. Should I just drag the entire SilverFast Application folder to the Trash before installing the new version, or only certain files and folders within the original application? Or, would third party uninstalling software be a better way to go, to be certain of removing all of the application?

Hi there,
You can simply drop the program folder into the trash can, also navigate to:
Mac/users/your name/Library/Preferences
And delete the folder named "LaserSoft Imaging"
After that you might proceed to install the update

I believe there is a misunderstanding here.
The newsletter from yesterday was informing customers with the Canon 8800f as well as 8600f about the new OSX Lion support with SilverFast 8 (which by the way is the newest version of SilverFast).
If you are still working with version 6, please get the latest update available for you which should be version 6.6.2r4a or r5.
After installing the update and before starting SilverFast, please make sure you delete the preferences folder to eliminate possible complications with old preferences.
