Weird screen updating when adjusting levels and stuff

Postby DannyBloe » Sun Jan 12, 2003 1:31 pm

Hi,

I am using the twain driver of SF6.0.1r31 and scanning positives/negatives. I notice that the preview changes (becomes brighter) as soon as I click on, let's say a slider in the levels. And I don't even move the slider. Simply pressing the mouse button makes the image brighter and when I release the button, the image decreases in contrast. So, when I try to adjust the image the image is in fact different from the preview. Now, how can this happen? I tried turning off/on all CMS options but to no avail.

Please help because this makes SF useless.

Some extra info: this does not happen with the Photoshop plug-in.

Dear Danny.

When using the sliders in the histogram or gradation dialogs, SilverFast uses a fast correction method to update the correction on the preview. This method showes not exactly the same quality compared to the real correction, but it is fast enough to get real time corrections. To switch the real time correction (fast method) off, please go to the option dialog (general panel) and switch off the checkbox for "real time correction".

Eric.

Well, if that is true, how is it possible then that the image actually becomes better while moving the slider? The highlights become much better and you can see more detail in it (more contrast) than 'at rest'. The image is dull compared to while dragging. It doesn't make sense.
