Hi,
I'm currently using an older Umax 2400S scanner and am interested in purchasing SilverFast with IT8. My problem is I'm looking at getting rid of the Umax scanner in a few of months, and upgrading to a newer Epson scanner. I'd like to get started using SilverFast, but it doesn't make sense to purchase now if I'll just have to purchase another new copy in a few months. Do you offer any options that would allow me to upgrade SilverFast/IT8 when I change scanners?

Buy SilverFast HDR. It works only with files and doesn't care what scanner you use to create those files. Then use the software you have with your scanner (present or future) to create 48-bit files that you can create for SilverFast HDR. If your scanner software won't create 48-bit files, then buy v**s**n for $40. It'll work with just about any scanner past, present, or future, and all upgrades are free, so you'll never spend another dime on it. You don't need to use all of its features, just the part that creates the 48-bit files. This won't give you IT8, but you'll be able to start learning how SilverFast works (Ai and HDR are vertually identical). When you get your new scanner, you can keep working with v**s**n and HDR (without IT8), or you can then buy SilverFast Ai for your new scanner (along with the IT8 option) and you'll be in business. Good luck.
