upgrading?

My Epson1640SU Photo needs to be repaired (green line in the length of the scanbed) and if the cost for this is too high, which it probably is, then I will have to buy a new scanner.
I do have Silverfast AI 5.5 Negatifix (without IT8) for the 1640. In case I should be forced to buy a new model, do I have to pay full price for my new version of AI5.5 negatifix (with IT8 this time)or is there some kind of "side grade" foreseen? Without my AI5, I'd be lost...

I did not know exactly where to post this, and did not find any specification on the site...
