I use Ai, stand alone Launcher, a Reflecta Digitdia 4000, Windows XP
After encountering some problems with 6.4.3r9 I returned to r8. Yesterday I discovered there was a new update (6.4.4r2) and I tried an update. The first 10 or so scans worked ok, but then I had the following effect:
Starting a batch scan the first slide is being processed and about in the middle of the dust removal computing process Silverfast suddenly shuts down. The program stops and returns to Windows.
There is no error message
SF just closes
The computer doesn't hang up
I can start SF again with the same results
Deleting the prefs and Previews doesn't help
Deinstalling an reinstalling SF (and deleting the prefs) doesn't help
Again I had to return to r8.
Anyone with similar problems?
Kul

Kul,
This sounds interesting, thanks for the heads up! When the application stopped did you look in the Windows application log for errors?
I just updated my SilverFast AI Studio after reading your post. I scan reflective positives most of the time, but I'll give the new version a try and report my experience.

I'm still at the stage of thinking it's my fault but I have recently developed the same problems exactly, using canon 9950 and OsX with a trial version of AI. On the mac it just hangs, (sometimes at the middle, sometimes nearer the end) and Photoshop can then only be closed by turning the scanner off first. I get the same problem applying GANE but ithe scan completes OK if no filters are applied.
I thought it might be a RAM problem, but with r8 I was able to batch 12 slides OK, whereas with more recent versions a single slide doesn't complete. I guess I'll now go back and try r8 again.

Sounds a little bit like my problems:

Not quite
I don't get any messages, error or other, the program just closes. No problems with other programs, I even can start Silverfast again.
Couple of days ago I opened a ticket, but didn't get any hints yet.

24 October 2006, SilverFast SE Plus - Version 6.4.4r6, and same problem here. The only difference is that windows error message pops up (SF Launcher application encountered a problem and needs to close).
Any chance to resolve this problem ever?
