two scanners, same model, different results

Postby Kul » Fri Apr 21, 2006 8:37 pm

Use Ai, stand alone Launcher, IT8 calibration, Reflecta Digitdia 4000, Windows XP

After months of testing I had found suitable (for me) parameters for batch processing my color slides. Last week my scanner showed some mechanical problems transporting the slides.

I sent it back to my retailer and yesterday I received another scanner (same model) in exchange. Happily I started to continue scanning but was serieosly disappointed.

In spite of an IT8 calibration the results with the other scanner were completely different. Now I'm back to testing. Up to now, I wasn't able to get the same results as before.

Isn't IT8 calibration meant to eliminate the difference between scanners and more so scanners of the same make?

Anyone with an idea?

Kul,

IT8 is intended to provide the means for matching color between devices, but that does not mean you will get the exact same results from different scanners from the same manufacture. I'm sure you know this already, but IT8 is essentially a color translator for scanners in this case.

A couple of things to examine are the scanner firmware version and, and to make sure they have not released a newer driver.

Hope this helps!

RAG,

thank you for your hints, you are always quick (or is it fast? my English is not too solid) to read and answer.

I already checked the firmware, but I will contact my dealer for more information.
