SRD creates a visible grid pattern in shadow areas with 6.2.1r6 and does not with earlier version (6.1.0r3). Scanning a positive print at 700ppi with defect type=white, detection=100, defect size=3, intensity=100, extension=0. No masks, no longish scratch removal.
I scanned exactly the same image with the same settings using both versions. The earlier version produces good results, the newer version creates a noticeable grid pattern in the shadows.
This is a bad problem for me as I rely on SRD to knock out the white specks that result from the surface texture when scanning artists hand tinted silver gelatin prints. I have been using the settings described above successfully since SRD was first introduced several years ago. It has worked great and I need it.
This is a big part of my business and the new version is generating poor results which surprised me. I can use the old version for now, but I'd like to know what is happening with the new version.
Thanks for your help.
