Software broke upon second use

Postby morello » Fri Mar 12, 2004 6:07 am

All i get now is black. 100% everywhere, even in scan.

I have a 3170, the silverfast program gave some error while I was using it the for my second scan, and now all it can return from the scanner is black. I have reinstalled the software, am running the latest release (r7), and have rebooted.

Epson's software works fine. My $50 silverfast fell apart after one use... hopefully this problem while I could not find in the search isn't a hard one to fix, because it's kinda a problem when your scanner software doesn't recognize anything but black, while epson's software works fine.

Dear Morello

please try re-setting your options.

On a PC press down the Alt key (located left from the space bar) and click on the "Options" button (which has transformed into a "Reset" button.

On a Mac, Shift-click the backcurved arrow.

If this doesn't help, please move (while SilverFast is not running) into

Windows: /Documents and Settings/(your username)/Application Data/LaserSoft Imaging

Mac OS X: /Users/(your username)/Library/Preferences/LaserSoft Imaging

then go into the appropriate SilverFast folder and delete the prefs folder.
Restart SilverFast.

Thanks, reseting the options in the software didn't fix my problem, however deleting the folder in Documents and Settings did. Do you have any idea why this happened? I'm just hoping it isn't something that is going to happen often.

Thank you for the solution, I appreciate it.

Dear morello

thanks for letting me know things did work out. I wish I'd know what caused, as there may be quite a few reasons...
... but I'd rather not speculate - this could only cause confusion.

However, I am positive you won't have to do this ever so often :)
Have a nice weekend,
Sonny
