sizing problem

Postby metal_farmer » Thu Aug 14, 2008 2:10 am

I am using silverfast se in mac osx. I am trying to scan an 8x10 negative. I have done this many times before with no problem, but I have been having a problem recently - maybe I changed a setting I was unaware of or something like that - when I prescan, it doesnt pre scan the entire area. it scans the entire length of the scannable area but only about 80% of the width (balanced to one side). so in other words, the right 20% of the image is missing. the entire scan window is sized to this proportion and wont change.

thanks for any help.

Dear metal_farmer,

which scanner are you using ?
Some scanners offer 2 different transparency options ( e.g. EPSON V700 ), maybe you selected the wrong one ?!

Please provide some more info, best regards !

I am using an epson perfection 4990. I am scanning in the transparency mode, and it only allows the scannable area to be (not sure if these are the exact figures but very close) 9.1 inches x 5.7 inches. however if I scan a reflective document, it will scan the full area like normal.

thanks

Dear metal_farmer,

hmm, could you check your settings:
At the place where you switch from reflective to transparency mode there should be a third option "full area" or the like...
THAT should enable the use of the full transparency size ( although with slightly less resolution ).

Greetings,
