SilverFast SE version and OCR software

Postby antman313 » Sat Feb 11, 2006 8:28 pm

Hi all,

I'm planing to buy the SilverFast SE version. I've downloaded the demo version and it's running well under mac os 10.4.4 on my mac mini with an epson usb scanner GT 7000.

So, I've also a wind**ws machine where is running xp and the readiris 10 software on it. this ocr software is also available for mac os.
My question is, this software supports all twain scanners. but my scanner isn't seen in this programm. so only silverfast se is supporting this scanner because there is a PS plugin? (in PS my scanner works also ...).

anyone out there who use ocr third party software?

best
Andy

Dear Andy

for Windows there's a TWAIN variant of SilverFast, too.
However, I cannot tell whether your Readiris version's TWAIN interface is compatible to the latest SilverFast SE.

However, if it isn't, you can try this workaround:
Scan with SilverFast into files, and open these files in Readiris for OCR processing.
You want to tryout the demo for yourself to see if it works suitably before buying.

Kind regards

Hi Andy,

Pardon me if I sound crabby, but could you please refrain from using the funny spellings of 'Windows'. I realize it's amusing to some folks to call Microsoft Windows "Windoze" and "Winblows", "Wind**ws", etc, but please realize that when you are posting to a public forum for help, other users who might have the same question (and could benefit from the responses you receive) will be hampered in their search efforts due to these cutesy misspellings.

That said, here is a driver for your particular scanner that was made for Windows 2000, but nevertheless is Windows XP compatible:

ftp://ftp.epson.com.au/pub/epson/driver ... n%2034.zip

I don't know if that driver will help or not, but since it's hard to find these days, I'd thought I'd post it for those who might need it.
