Silverfast SE s/n not accepted!?!

Postby Stefano » Mon Sep 02, 2002 11:30 am

I downloaded SilverFast SE (as twain driver for Win98) for my PIE PF 1800i scanner.
After trying the demo version I decided to buy it, so I paid the $49 and received my s/n.
But it does not seem to work.
I fill all field to "unlock" the demo version but all it happens is just a "DING!!" sound, and the s/n gets highlighted, as it was not accepted.
I saw that the twain driver I downloaded is already version 6.
I already sent an e-mail with all my details to the address that sent me the confirmation of the purchase.
Can you help me, pls?
Thx

Stefano

SE serial number

Postby Peter Calvin » Mon Sep 02, 2002 1:45 pm

I briefly had trouble getting SE to accept my serial number until I realized I was hitting the space bar after I typed in my name. I think SF sees the extra space as a character and won't serialize with it. When I typed my name exactly as in the confirmation email (no middle initial and no extra spaces), SF SE accepted my serial number.

I don't believe this is an issue with the full Ai version.

Actually I copied each field from the web page, and then also from the e-mail, (so no spaces or 0/O mistakes).
Really I have no clue what the problem could be.
The demo worked fine, it finds the scanner, preview is great...
but when I enter the s/n data all is stuck!
Hope the SilverFast support will help me, quickly.
Thanks anyway.

Stefano

SE Serial number

Postby Peter Calvin » Mon Sep 02, 2002 2:17 pm

Try typing it in. I remember someone (not Silverfast) telling me not to cut and paste their serial number, but to actually type it in. Perhaps that will make a difference.
