SilverFast not saving settings.

Postby jamessawle » Mon Sep 14, 2015 1:01 pm

Is there a way to set a default scan setting for all scans?

I am doing batch scans, and whenever I start a new Preview, it resets all the settings to default, meaning that even though I am scanning 3.5" negatives at 4 at a time, the output is set to 3.38" x 2.26", I then have to change this to out put a higher size by upping the dpi to 1600dpi, but when I batch scan ONLY the first negative is scanned at 1600dpi and all the others are set to 300dpi, this means that I have to select each frame and change the dpi before I hit the batch Scan button, which is very annoying and even worse when I scan 35mm slides.

What I want to do is set a default for all scans in the future, I don't care what size I am scanning so long as the output is usable, and I also want it to ave the settings on exit so that I dont have to redo all this messing about when I restart the software which I have to do at the moment.

Is this possible? or if not, can someone recommend another application?

James

Dear James,

Every scanframe has it's ownsettings.
In the "Frame" Menu you will find the "Copy settings to all frames" option which allows you to easily transfer settings.
In case you are using an Ai Studio version you can also set custom defaults.
To do this in Ai Studio:
- First set up a scan frame with your most common settings.
- Save the Settings in the "Frame" menu -> settings -> save settings.
- Open the SilverFast preferences' general tab.
- Here you find the "Default settings" pull down menu which will contain your saved settings.
- Select one and all future frames will use these settings.

Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.
