Scratch and Dust Problem

When I attempt to use Silverfast's Scratch and Dust Removal tool with a Kodak Tri-X negative the preview is totally whacked out. No matter what settings I use all I get is splotches of red and green. If I turn the settings way down I am able to discern an image, but it looks as though it has been sliced into horizontal bands and put back together in random order. What is going on here?

The settings should not be set too high, otherwise a huge part of the image is corrected and it looks completely washed out. You can use the <Auto> button to initialize the parameters.
