scanned file is black

Postby MiloszPhoto » Thu Feb 19, 2015 11:45 pm

Hi,

I got often the following problem:
I do all my work inside SilverFast 8.2.0 r3 on the previsualization. When I hit scan (EPSON perfection V750 pro) it happen very often (even few times a scanning session) that the scanned image is… black! I have to trash silver fast preferences to make it work again. But sometimes I have to do it few times before it finally work again.
I have a Mac Pro 3,1 running osX.9.5

Did anyone had the same problem and did someone find a solution?

thank you,
Milosz

Dear Milosz,

Does the lamp light up when this happens?

Please make sure the calibration area at the beginning of the glass plane is not obstructed.
(The first 2-3 cm viewed from the hinges.)
Even slight disturbances like a peace of transparent adhesive tape can cause issues.

Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Dear Arne,

yes the lamp lights up all the times. Actually during the scanning, the preview in left lower corner shows the image appearing as it should. Then in saves the file… and it's black…

the calibration area is also clear.

I precise the black file is 100% electronically pure black.

The only solution that help when it happens is to trash silver fast preferences and relaunch it. Which is very irritating because I have to reconfigure the prefs each time it happens.

Kind regards,
Milosz Hermanowicz

The same issue here.
Preview looks nice, scanned result(JPG @ 300 dpi) is a black rectangle. All is black, no any variation. What's interesting, in ~/Library/Preferences/LaserSoft Imaging/SilverFast 8/Previews/PrevR(Canon 8800F).psd file shows correct preview. Image here is scanned and saved correctly. Delete preferences solved this problem… Somehow too often I have to delete preferences… I cannot recall that for any other program I had to delete preferences in the last 3-4 years. And I have more than 150 applications installed. Can you improve your software???
(MacBook Pro 15.4" retina mid 2014, OS X 10.10.2. SilverFast Ai 8.2.0r3, Canon Canoscan 8800F)

I encountered the same problem (scan preview OK, actual scan image file is solid black) immediately after performing an automated update of the Silverfast software today.

I deleted the preferences folder: ~/Library/Preferences/LaserSoft Imaging/SilverFast 8

Then scanning function returned to normal.

Of course, I had to set up my preferences again.
