Problem with Descreen Filter - Slow!

When scanning using an Epson Expression 10000XL using Silverfast 6.5.1r1 we are having problems with the scan running very slow when using the usm and descreen filters.
silverfast is setup to scan at 300 dpi and is using the 48 to 24 bit colour scan type.
the scanner is taking about 15 mins to scan a full bed, does anyone know why?

Dear Data.Reception,

SilverFast uses a rather high resolution to be able to perform its high quality descreening algorithm. This makes Descreen scans slow compared to "normal" scans.
