Noise

Postby mgilvey » Wed Dec 07, 2005 2:08 am

I am trying to scan a Fuji NPS 35mm negative on my UMAX ASTRA 2200. I get waaayy too much noise in the image.http://www.t-i-w.com/downloads/Cherokee_Kitchen.jpg

I have SilverFast Ai6 Studio. I tried the multiscan but even at 4 scans it is out of register. I'm I pushiing my scanner too much or is there something else I can do?

mgilvey,

Try different NegaFix settings and you can also use gain to reduce some of the noise. Multiscan helps reduce shadow noise, but you need to use some of the other tools for the general noise (film grain reduction) in your example.

Thanks, I'll give it a try.
