I had SF Ai and after looking at the LaserSoft/SilverFast site, it looked like upgrading to Studio would give me the Multiple Exposure feature. However, I do not see any way of accessing the Multiple Exposure feature from the Ai Studio interface. This feature was the only feature from the Studio version that I wanted.
Does anyone know how to initiate Multiple Exposure from Ai Studio?
(When I bought Ai Studio, it was the "ME" version.)

Dear fanlight.
Thanks for your interest in SilverFast and our new Multiexposure feature. Since dynamic range is somewhat related to bitdepth you can activate Multiexposure in 48-bit and 48-bit HDR scanmode via the frame tab in the scancontrol window. Then activate MEX from the Multisampling button.
The button status will change like this:
- 1x (neither)
- 2x Multisampling
- 2x Multiexposure
- 4x Multisampling
- 4x Multiexposure
- 8x Multisampling
....and so on.
Do not hesitate to ask further questions. I will monitor this thread for a while.
Best,
JAN

ME only works for certain scanners. It also only works with the desktop in XP mode. And for me at least it does not work on my Nikon IV scanner which is supposed to be one of the ones supported. The multi sampling button is stuck on ME4 and will not change. And now SF will not even recognize the scanner in standalone mode.
So Fanlight make sure your scanner is supported and that your version is stable.
Personally I've been waiting for 10 days for a response form SF on my tech support problem.

We are aware of this problem and will publish a fix for this first thing in 2007.

The Nikon IV aka. LS-40 is definitly ready for Multiexposure. I quickly checked myself. You can contact me with your ticket number via private message if you like.

LSI_Rossee,
I had to remove 6.5 Studio and go back to 6.4.x Ai. About every 5 scans or so, Studio would quit unexpectedly. Then it became more often until it quit in the middle of every scan. I beleive I saved the last crash report.
As far as ME goes, are you saying I need to do a 48bit to 48bit scan rather than 48bit to 24bit scan in order to have ME availble?
I will file your respnses and try again when a more stable version of 6.5 Studio is released.

Now having found that it works this way
1x (neither)
- 2x Multisampling
- 2x Multiexposure
- 4x Multisampling
- 4x Multiexposure
- 8x Multisampling
....and so on.
I made some test scans.
With Multi-Exposure I got nice double-images, multisampling does not work anymore (just a single scan pass).
The example shows a 2x ME scan

Double Exposure
I get a double exposure image about every fifth time I use Multi-sampling. I have only used the 4x sampling rate so far.
I haven't tested Multi-exposure yet because I had to remove Studio due to it crashing so much.
Mac OS 10.4

New Multiple Exposure Feature
I use a Nikon Coolpix 5000 ED and Silverfast 6.5.5r1 under Mac OS 10.4.10
I am getting excellent scans using 48 bit color and Mulitsampling with MEX.
I scan Black and White film frequently. Can I access Multisampling and MEX with 16 bit Greyscale scanmode?
Thanks,
jh
