line in completed scan

Postby william Noonan » Sun Jan 22, 2006 1:38 am

I'm getting use to the machine but now I'm getting a line across the finished images...when I blow them up big it looks like some kind of a shadow...looking in the machine I can't see anything and it looks like the negs are scrathed but they are not..the line only appears when using the neg scanner, the flat bed works ok...BILL

Bill,

What scanner are you using?

A simple thing to try, without more information, is turning the negative over.

line on image

Postby william Noonan » Sun Jan 22, 2006 10:09 pm

I'm using a MICROTEK 900...I tried turning the negative over with the same results...when using 35 mm or 2 1/4 square negs the line is not there...it seems to be right in the middle when I use the 4x5 neg holder...used a glass plate yesterday, placed the neg in a corner and there was no line.........thanks for responding..........BILL

Lines in scan

Postby schrubs » Thu May 11, 2006 1:36 am

Lines in scan might be cause by dust the on the calibration window of glass holder frame or by dust on CCD captor.
Solution for Microtek ScanMaker i900 (Might void warrenty ???) : Start a negative scan and wait until the CCD captor is back but still light on. Look for dust inside the scanner in the negative-holder's place, on the light of the CCD captor . CAREFULLY blow it with an air duster. DO NOT SHAKE THE CAN and use short and quick blasts. Work good for me. Hope this help.
Clean your room before attemting to save the world.

Do these lines show up in the same location on all of your scans? If so, you definitely need to look into having your scanner cleaned, or cleaning it yourself.
