kodak gold 100-4 upside down inverted

I'm not sure where else to post this question. Is it normal to have the markings such as frame number and dx barcode to be 180 degrees upside down inverted from the image? the numbers are on the right way but the image when I put the frame numbers right side up makes the image upside down. is this normal? Was the film loaded upside down in the camera when originally shot? This makes it very hard to know which way is up on the negatives i'm scanning. for now i'm turning the negatives so that the images are right side up. I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong or if that's just the way that film worked?
