Hi,
I have just upgraded to the latest version of Siverfast available for my Epson V750 6.6.2r4a and done some film scanning.
When I try and open any of the files using the popular image viewer Irfanview I get an error mess which says: "Decode error! Unsupported JEPG data precision 12"
Windows explorer will not display the thumbnails either and when I try and look at the images in iMatch my image cataloguing program the thumbnails display as black and white without any edits done in Silverfast e.g. rotation.
Images scanned with the previous version of Silverfast did not have this problem and I am using exactly the same JPEG settings in the program.
Is there a bug in the latest version or does anyine have any idea what may be causing this?
Dave

Re: JPEG decode error
Dear Dave,
You are scanning 48bit jpg files.
These can only be opened by a limited number of professional applications.
If you want full compatibility with all image viewers you have to scan 24bit images.
For more information on Irfanview please contact their support.
kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Re: JPEG decode error
Yes, it was operator error on my part. It might be an idea to include some sort of warning dialogue (than can be switched off) if users on non-professional versions of the software try and scan 48 bit jpegs.

Re: JPEG decode error
We do have a warning about that.
Maybe you deactivated that?

Re: JPEG decode error
Well that's interesting but I don't recall ever seeing it and I can't think why I would turn it off as normally I would not attempt to scan 48 bit jepgs so would only see this on the odd occasion I got the settings wrong.
Is there a way to turn it back on again?

Re: JPEG decode error
You can only turn them back on by resetting the preferences.
