IT8 calibration target not accepted

Postby Tjebbe » Sat Apr 04, 2009 2:51 pm

I am using Silverfast AI on a Mac OSX 10.4 with a Michrotech 9800XL and after two hours attempts I am still not able to callibrate my scanner
As far as I know I never did get a barcoded F target (I started of with SG as a bundle deal, that may be why)

I do have a target = Kodak Q-60 Color Input Target Reflective 2001:06

I did find the data file on the Kodak website named = R1200106.Q60

As far as I understand the version system I have Silverfast (MicotechIT8).plugin version 6.4.5r4b

I mark the target correctly as the instruction says
as I do not have a barcoded target I am prompted
I did place the correct file in the IT8 folder = applications/Silverfast Application/Silverfast/IT8 Reference/

But it does NOT work; the error message I get =

Error: Color patch sampling unacceptable. Please cancel and correct the current fram position.

This does not make sense to me... as far as I can see the target is correctly positioned.

I am out of work as far as scanning goes now!

After years of very good service it seems as if constant conlfict between the scanner and the software

Please anyone able to help me?

Dear Tjebbe,

Please make sure the reference file you are using is in a clear-text format.
Some Targets use proprietary files like those used with EZColor.
These files are unreadable by SilverFast.

Please also make sure the mask is not inverted.
Check that the black dot is on a black target-field and the white dot is on a white field.

kind regards

Dear customer,

the reference file looks OK so far.

If it is the correct one for your target and the scanframe is positioned correctly everything should be alright.

Was the reference file supplied with your target?
(a different file would not work).

kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Yes, the reference file was supplied with the target and the scanframe is positiones correctly

The problem is I stretch the grid correctly, but after that the program ask for the file, and after that it ask to adjust the grid (already correct),.....until you cancel the process

Please make sure the white dot is on the white field and the black dot is on the black field.

Sometimes the mask is turned around.

I have had the same problem and managed to fix it. I am using an Epson V700 scanner and a target from LaserSoft: T060825. I had exactly the same problem as described. Then I noticed the target is a Transparency and I had the SilverFast set up for Reflective. Once I fixed this, all worked fine.
